The Story in Brief

Gill and Vaughan met at Western University in 2016 (approximately one million years ago) during Gill's orientation week where Vaughan was her O-Week leader. He had recently shaved his eyebrows to raise entirely too little money for charity, hadn't showered in days, and was on crutches and T3s; obviously it was love at first sight. They started dating shortly thereafter. Continuing to date throughout school and beyond, Vaughan and Gill have shared both milestones and adventures by each other's side, such as finishing Engineering school, spending summers working in such far flung places as Waterloo and Ghana, getting Master's degrees, having a Guelph era, getting jobs, and buying their first home together. They look forward to continuing to travel the world together.

Proposal Story

Vaughan asked Gill if she wanted to check out a fancy restaurant at 6 pm on July 13th, 2025. Before setting out, they took three polaroid photos together to commemorate the moment on Vaughan's insistence, and then headed out for their date. Rather than going to The Springs, he had her take a detour to Western Campus at the top of UC Hill, very close to where they had first met almost 9 years prior. Waiting for them there was a setup: Vaughan had gone through all of the photos from when they were dating and had created a collage spelling V + G, with accompanying flowers and gifts.

In one bag was a book with more photos showing all of the milestones of their dating, from the first photo they ever took together in their pre-dating days (seen above), through school, graduation, grad school, their various moves and living situations, and their travels from around the world. On the final page, there was an almost blank page with the description: "This is the last photo Vaughan and Gill took together while they were dating.". Vaughan then had Gill pull out the polaroid photos they had taken before setting out and place them in the book, before reaching into the other bag to present her with the ring. She said yes.
